Hostage killed. Death being looked into

On Friday US troops tried to free a British aid worker Linda Norgrove held hostage in Afghanistan since September 26. Norgrove died in the attempt. US commander General David Petraeus has called for an investigation into whether or not troops trying to rescue her killed her or her captives.
Linda Norgrove was abducted around September 26 with three other British nationals. They were kidnapped in a remote part of Afghanistan, so remote that a farmer who witnessed the abduction, was unable to report the incident for over two hours.
When US troops went and attempted to free Norgrove, something went wrong and an explosion ended Linda Norgrove's life on October 7th or 8th. The cause of the explosion is being looked into. At first the public was told that she had had a suicide bomb vest on that had detonated mid rescue. However it is now being looked into whether or not the fatal blast was caused by a friendly grenade.

Leading the investigation into the failed attempt will be US Major Gen Joseph Votel, the chief of staff of the US Special Operations Command. The investigation is expected to take several days and the findings released to the public after Ms Norgrove's family has been informed, According to the BBC. Evidence to be investigated will include video taken from air support as well as film shot on the ground from recorders on the solders.

Mohammad Khatami was in New York

Iran's president Mohammad Khatami was in New York the past week for the United Nations meeting. While there he had some interesting meetings. He did an interview with Larry King. During the interview he talked about his role in getting Sarah Shoud released and how he has no political power to have the other people released. He also did not commit to meeting up with President Obama. When asked if he would he just kind of shrugged and smirked a little. He was also attacked for the stoning of an Iranian woman.

Sarah Shourd

Sarah Shourd is an american hiker who,; along with Shane Baver and Josh fatter, was arested in July of 2009 for crossing over the boarder illegally. They were then charged with espionage.  After a year and a half The Iran goverment agreed to let one of the captives, Sarah Shourd, go at the end of the Islamic holiday  Ramadan. However when the day arrived Shourd was not released. the release was canced by  "Abas Jafari Dolatabadi, Tehran's public and revolutionary prosecutor, according to ILNA."cnn
Abas Jafari Dolatabadi probably did this because he is trying to undermine the rule of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad . However to show his good will Abas set a bail of 500,000 dollars. On September 14 bail was paid and Abas Jafari Dolatabadi said that Shourder was free to leave the country if she wants to.
Shourd left Iran today and plans to help get her hiking command and new fiancĂ©  out of jail.
